From Eschbach you can reach a forrest parking place about 1km below the castle.

The view of the Rhine Valley is outstanding and paid for the climb and in the Burgschänke there are Palatinate dishes!

The Made Castle is the largest ancient castle in the Southern Palatinate and was probably built in the 11th century. There have been preserved huge wall remains. Much of Romanesque and Renaissance period. Most striking is the Romanesque castle gate to the outer bailey and the Philippsbau and to Eberhardsbau belonging Renaissance Tower. From the platform of Philippsbaues one has a breathtaking view of the Rhine Rift and the Wasgau. The castle is accessible only during the opening times of the Burgschänke. See link.
