Drachenfels Castle was probably built around 1200 as a border castle of the Abbey Klingenmünster. It is very powerful and is divided into an eastern and western rock. Some wall remains as the Torbaues are still preserved. The castle area is very extensive and varied. It is a typical rock castle with numerous rock stairs and chambers. From the platform of the once used as a dungeon tower rock you have a wonderful view over the surrounding area and also to the Dahn Altdahn, Grafendahn and Tanstein. The Drachenfels is one of the most interesting castles of the Wasgau, why one should miss its visit no.
